Kagulu Rock- The old rail road epic

Kagulu rock stands at 3600ft and is the highest point in the whole of Busoga region. A place of historical and cultural significance to the people here.

It is a great hiking and camping spot overlooking the lake kyoga on one side and on the other the flat pains of Northern Busoga which are great for cycling.

The experience

The Kagulu rock- Old rail road epic adventure is a great beginner level hiking and cycling trip where you will take a road trip to Buyende district in northern Busoga through Kamuli and its beautiful out of a sketch book country side and camp out at the foot of Kagulu rock.

The Climb up the rock can be done in  2 hours up and down for the slowest hiker making it a beginner level and very family friendly adventure. The top of the rock presents panoramic views of lake Kyoga and beyond with the flat plains of Busoga stretching out till where the eye can see no more. 

Camping at the base allows you to feel and explore the culture of the people of Busoga, try out their music and dance plus food. This will all be done with an all night campfire.

What to note:

It is a 2 day event. A journey of about 156km

It is a camping trip. alternative accomodation can be arranged but is not assured.

Itinerary(Hiking Trip)

Day 1:
8am- set off from Kampala. Meeting point is Lugogo mall. Be there by 7.30
1pm- Arrival in Kamuli. Lunch break(out of pocket expenses)
2pm- Proceed to Kagulu hills in Buyende.
3pm- Arrival. Set up camp and get ready to hike.
4pm- Start of the hike. Hike lasts 2 hr at most for the slowest hiker. So we can enjoy a good sunset up the hills.
7pm- Dinner, drinks and campfire till late. Retire at Will.

Day 2:
8am-Breakfast

10am- Departure for Kampala

5pm- expected arrival in Kampala

Day 1

5pm- expected arrival in Kampala
